Note from the President- The May 1st meeting with Esther Benedict was exciting and with the camera/projector system I purchased for myself, everybody was able to see the demonstration of constructing the “Crevice Garden in a Trough” with ease. Congratulations to Sally McCaffery for winning the completed Crevice Trough! The Benedict’s also brought plants to sell and many left the meeting with plants in their hands. Thank you Esther and Robert Benedict, for a wonderful program and the opportunity to buy plants from Benedict Nursery. I also want to thank the membership for helping the Benedicts’ load their vehicle for the drive back to Nappanee, IN.
Our June meeting will be on June 12th. There will be no potluck dinner. Please bring cookies or something to drink, no cakes or other food. Also, we will meet an hour early to facilitate getting out before sundown. Check out the times under the Next Meeting heading below. The speaker will be Dr. Susan Haddock from the Primrose Society Mid-West Group. Dr. Haddock will present “Follow Me Down the Primrose Path”. This presentation will enlighten you on the different species of Primrose that we can grow in our zone 5b/6a gardens Botanophilia a nursery from Antigo, Wisconsin, will be selling plants at this meeting. They will have at least four tables of plants available for sale. June 14th my gardens will be open for the Primrose Society Tour. This tour will be open to EMHS, APS MWG, HPS, and NARGS GLC. Please feel free to bring your friends with you. The APS Chapter will be having their plant sale here that day (cash only) and Botanophilia from Wisconsin will be set up and selling plants from 10AM to 8PM.
July 10th starts our Tour Season this year. Barb Hunter and Cathy Hodgson have volunteered to open their gardens from 1:00PM-3:45PM. Then the club will meet at Suncrest to tour the gardens there and have a potluck in the pavilion at 5:00PM. All in Lapeer.
August 14th will be a tour at Sandy Vukonich’s gardens in Oxford.

Next Meeting- June 12th, 2025 at the Mayfield Twp. Hall, 1900 N. Saginaw, Lapeer, MI 48446. This is our regular meeting place located just south of the point of M-24 and N. Saginaw, (the driveway just north of the Cemetery). There will be NO POTLUCK DINNER. Also, Please note the time schedule change below.
Our speaker will be Dr. Susan Haddock President of the American Primrose Society Mid-West Group, presenting “Follow Me Down the Primrose Path”. The presentation will cover the Primrose that will grow in our gardens here in Mid-Michigan. She will also bring display plants.
Botanophilia from Antigo, WI will be selling plants at our meeting so bring extra money or your credit card.
Since there is no potluck, eat before you come to the meeting or please feel free to bring your own bagged lunch.
